Competition Registration Procedure

Postby Mike Wills on Mon Mar 03, 2008 12:07 pm

For all competitions, registration will open at least 4 weeks prior to the event date on Thursday at Noon. For some events, registration will open earlier. You can view the 2017 MASA events schedule and registration dates here: http://www.heavyevents.com/masa_2017.pdf

Unless otherwise noted, sign-in for Saturday games starts at 8:30, or 9:00 for Sunday games. Throwing begins at 9:00 on Saturdays, 9:30 on Sundays. Any changes from this schedule will be posted on the message board. Please be on the field early to help with setting up the equipment.

Registration is here: http://heavyevents.com/registration.php

The first step in registration is setting up your athlete profile. I recommend doing that now. I also suggest taking a quick look through the rest of this website - this forum is only one part of it. Scroll up to the top of the page and click on "Heavyevents.com".

As a reminder, or an introduction for our new folks: Registration is first-come, first-served. However, since not everybody can be at their computer at noon ready to pounce, all registrations received within the first 24 hours - until noon Friday - will be treated as having come in at the same time. Any competitions that operate on a different system will be noted.

If your class is full, you may be placed on the waiting list. We will be carefully monitoring the lists - if you're registered or on the waiting list and have to drop out, let us know ASAP - post in the appropriate games thread - so that we can let the next person in.

If a class fills up within the first 24 hours, and we have to bump someone to the waitlist, it will be done by random drawing. The top three from the previous year will be exempt from bumping. You can also select one games per year as your hometown games, and will be exempt from bumping. If you get bumped, you'll be exempt from bumping the rest of the year. But you still have to register within 24 hours. After that, it goes back to a strict first-come, first-served policy. Keep in mind that to ensure the smooth running of the games and the safety of all involved, Dave McKenzie can overrule these policies if necessary. And the folks who run the games can, of course, run their games however they see fit.

If you're over 40, and sign up for either the masters or open class but would be happy to throw in the other group to help balance out the numbers, please let us know.

And please make sure your athlete profile is up to date. Especially email address, home address and phone, and of course your emergency contact person.

If you don't remember your password, ask. Don't create a new profile for yourself. It really screws things up. You can reach Adam at agm@highlandgames.net

For each competition, we will use a "sticky" thread locked to the top of the main forum page to post specific information and track the lists. This will keep all the pertinent information and updates in one place. Each competition thread will be removed upon completion of that competition.

Mike, or Adam,

would it be possible to put the date and city/town for the games when posting the registration and list? We've all learned the schedule is a little unreliable, but the dates are nailed down by the time you open registration, right?
thanks

Not sure I understand. The schedule has the competition dates, registration open and close dates, and the city/state...along with the link to the web site if available. The only thing that generally changes are the classes, which we change if more people register than we have room for...then we try to add classes/flights.
