Important info on So MD Games

Postby Malcolm Doying on Wed Mar 05, 2008 10:07 am

In the interest of safety for all, there will be NO SPIN on WOB and SHEAF at So MD. With the three flights, the field is going to be crowded.

Also, it will be necessary for the athletes to purchase tickets for themselves and their guests. All the other participents, fiddlers, pipers etc. have to purchase tickets too. Before we had on-line registration there was an entry fee for the athletics. It is only fair that we pay to help the Games continue. You might be surprised how close the Games come to not having enough revenue to commit to having a Game the following year. If there was bad weather two years in a row it would bankrupt some of the Games. There are Advanced Ticket Savings available untill the end of March.
Information is on the Games web site: cssm.org or phone 443-404-7319.

Can't we move the WOB stand to the far end of the field? There is the end close to the parking lot we could use. That way we are maximizing the use of the entire field.

oh yeah and I get to spin. I will do whatever we need to do to stay safe.

I kinda like the no spinning rule! ;) Any chance it could be incorporated MASA-wide? :D

Also-- no steroids and no 2-pronged forks.

But then you lose the crowd. Hard to watch wob when it's that far away. And the crowd really likes the height events - exciting and easy to understand.

Hey Eric,

I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing you spin... The only thing that might be better is if I TRIED to spin. Looking forward to seeing you and all the other VMC crew at the clinic. If I can get my feeble mind to remember, I'll bring a half gallon or so of my homemade peach squeezings. A very healthful drink ;)

Hey Chuck, my spin is still in the works. I may have it ready for the stone, but for WOB... nooooooo, I would be one of those ones Malcolm was saying would hurt someone ;) Actually, I'm hitting some ok distances with my ugly stone spin, so it has potential :)

I won't be at the clinic, I have other plans on Saturday so I can't make it. I'll see ya at Southern MD! Looking forward to it!
