Adam will be posting info on Kentucky classes and registration, but we should be open for business at noon on Thursday.

Edited by agm - good information, but the subject line wasn't an attention grabber.

Just curious but what determines whether someone throws A or B side?

That depends on where in the country you are. In some areas, you win a B competition, you can throw with the As. In other areas, there are standards; hit the right marks, and you move up. Around here there's no formal standards - depending on your marks and placing, you'll fit with one or the other class. The classes may be split differently on any given day depending on how many people show up and how many flights are running. But generally, if you hit 30' and 60' with the weights, 80' with the heavy hammer, you're a solid A anywhere. Below 25', 50' and 70', you're a definite B. In between, it depends on your all-around game, experience, and who's making the call.

SSAAA has a pretty good set of guidelines for determining A's vs B's...

***When someone wins a B division competition AND accomplishes this by throwing 3 of the following 4 marks (in that game), then he moves to the A division:
25 feet - 56# WFD
50 feet - 28# WFD
60 feet - 22# Hammer
11 feet - 56# WOB

***If 3 of these 4 marks are not met, then he may continue to throw as a B.

***If a current A athlete has "been promoted" by virtue of winning what amounts to a novice B competition, he may petition the SSAAA to review his AVERAGE marks over the past two calendar years. If the AVERAGE is less than the marks listed above, then he may move back to throw as a B pending the approval of the SSAAA.

***Throwers who are currently A's who cannot reach these marks will stay in the A division.

hope this helps

The Hammer is not nude in that particular picture.....
Well that answered my question which as am I an A or a B,
Since i haven't won any B (or open for that matter) competitions i think i am probably going to be put in the B flight.

In general, how long is it from the time registration opens until there is a confirmation of your registration?
