Central VA practice group

I’m interested in trying out Highland Games but have zero experience. I know events typically have a novice class but would like to have a little practice of some sort beforehand (i.e. I’d prefer to make a partial fool of myself rather than a complete one). I’m wondering if there’s a group who gets together within a reasonable drive as a way for me to check it out. I’m outside Richmond but willing to drive a bit if necessary. Thanks in advance!
