Any updates for Beauregard?

Postby Mike Wills on Thu May 29, 2008 2:48 pm

Just checking to see how you're doing Beau. I wonder what the chances are for you being ready to go by John Collins' Weight City games in mid August? It might be a good way to get back into the swing of things at a small setting.

Let me know if you need anything.

Small setting? I think there might be several thousand spectators this year!

I spoke with Beau the other day and his rehabbing and work outs are going well enough that he is considering throwing open hammer this weekend at a track meet. I don't know if the stress of the games is too much or not, but hopefully he will be able to compete at Weight City.

Will there be drug testing for the top 5 finishers at Weight City this year?

Mikey, thanks for the inquiry and sorry it took me so long to find this thread.

Things are OK but not great... I was able to make some progress returning to training the lower body and pulls, but almost no progress with the upper body and especially the left (throwing) side. The pec tendon repair seems fine, but I've now developed what appears to be some bad bicep tendonitis around the injury where there is a lot of scar tissue and impingement. Lots of shoulder pain. As of now it's keeping me from being able to do any throwing or pressing without a lot of discomfort. I've been working on clearing it up, but it might take a while. The left elbow has also been pretty painful at times, too. Add this to my weird back that tends to yank itself out of whack at whim every now and then and I'm feeling pretty haggard for 25.

JC is right, I did go out and throw wire hammer sans practice at a meet this past weekend, mainly because my Maryland-bound HS athlete (she should make her HG debut at Weight City :o ) was throwing in the meet as well. I don't think I'll throw it again in the near future, or anything for that matter, until I'm fully healthy.

We'll see when that is.....

I hope everyone's training is going well and good luck to those competing this weekend!
