2nd ANNUAL WEIGHT CITY HIGHLAND GAMES - Registration open!

This post is to inform all of you about the upcoming second annual Weight City Highland Games and Pool Festival. This year we are going to be something fairly similar to what we did last yr in terms of limiting it to an open competition (primarily b/c of staff and a $0 budget) and volunteer judges staff. We are looking at 16 competitors with 8 of them being A's and 8 being B's and teaming an A with a B for 8 total teams. We will also be grilling lunch and after games dinner as we did last yr and I can probably get a keg for the aftergames celebration if enough people are interested. We will have to charge something around 15-20 bucks per head in order to cover all the folks' gas and the food and the special prizes that await the winner of Weight City.

I forgot some of the more important details. For those of you who did not come last year, Weight City if held at my folks' place:

13030 Prices Distillery Rd, Clarksburg, MD 20871

Start time is 9am, EST, and the date is Saturday, August 16th. Hopefully someone will bring a tent or two to fight off the sun. We have a large field to throw into, we might be getting a bonfire going after the games and we do have a pool for any small kids or big kids that might want to play in it.

Do we get to pick teammates?? If so, will you be my A?

I guess I better make sure to get registered before I start trying to finagle my teammate.

If noone picks me, can I still throw? If not, can I just hang in the pool and tap the keg?

Will there be kosher hot dogs?

What about swimsuits? Will they be required?

Late note on a forgotton detail for Weight City. The games will still be the A and B teammate open men's competition that was mentioned previous, but we will also try and accomodate a exhibition women's class. This will be for any women that are interested and depending on the interest we can spawn we might be able to work that into the team arrangement, but until we can see what the interest is it will just be a separate exhibition group that will throw with everyone else.

Although it was nice having JC drag me along for a team O victory last year, I'm open for anyone. Might have to do the pool this year though. John said only two of us at a time in the pool, his parents are afraid of the water bill to bring it back up to full.

I know you are all jealous, but I will be competing in Ohio at the Lexington Blueberry Festival. I had a great time last year. Thanks again to Clan Collins for hosting. There is always next year.
