Pig roast - Sunday, August 10

Postby agm on Wed Jul 23, 2008 2:34 pm

Hey, folks --

As some of you know, every year Colleen and I like to invite lots of people to consume lots of food in our backyard. It's a nice tradition, why change it now? So on Sunday, August 10 (no local games that weekend), we're doing it again. We're roasting a pig and cooking up some homemade sausage and other meats to be determined. There will be lots of carbs for those not avoiding them, beer, whisky and some non-alcoholic stuff. Y'all are invited to join us, starting around 2:00; the pig will be ready around 3:00 - 3:30. We're in Falls Church, near Seven Corners.

Did I mention that we have a pool? We can also provide lots of shade (to be installed next week!) if it's a hot day; if it's a wet day we can move inside. Kids/families are welcome. For those with allergies, we have one small dog who doesn't shed; no cats anymore. Oh, and we'll have the Olympics running in HD on the big screen.

Kilts are optional; bathing suits in the pool are NOT optional.

We will need a headcount, so let me know (post here or send a PM) and I'll send directions.

Late? Are you kidding? We don't expect to hear from some of our friends, neighbors and co-workers until sometime next week (although for anyone reading this who's thinking about coming, earlier is better - we need to order the pig by Friday).

Adam, put me on ye ole list and I will try my bestest. I may have to be in Chicago that weekend but I will know by the 4th. If not, I'm taking a cab to your place and I may have to crawl into a cab with a note attached to my carcass instructing someone to get me home safely if I'm totally inebriated!!!! Woohoo!!

We have a guest room with a queen bed, a couch, and a really nice inflatable mattress if anyone needs to sleep it off.

Hey Adam, I might take you up on a piece of floor space. The wife and kid are going to her mom's that weekend so I will be solo. I might kennel the dog for a night and that way I can hang out and chat later. Seems like as soon as we settle down and start talking it's time to head home ;)

I'll have to play it by ear.

If y'all want to break out the thongs, well, it's a free country. But can you wait until some of the more faint-hearted guests clear out?

Trish: Colin go get your bike and put it away!

Had all my stuff and was on my way but some jerk had to wreck on the bridge. It's been closed all day and traffic is now backed up 12 miles (Just like the good ole days before the new Kent Narrows bridge opened) They say it's a 5 hour delay... yuck!

Really bummed :(

Tired of people wrecking on that bridge. Learn to drive. If you are going to panic because it's freaking you out, DON'T USE IT!

Yeah, it looked like a mess. What a crappy way to go. There were a couple cars involved too. I hope he didn't doze off, it was like 4am. Ok, I feel bad now. I really wanted to go to Adam's bbq, but it looks like I didn't have it that bad.

Hey, Adam and Colleen-- Thanks for a great time yesterday! Awesome food and libations; we had a great time! :D And from the look of Beau's Braemar, I think the young man will be resuming his position as a MASA force in the not-to-distant future!

Thanks again--

Sounds like it was a great time. Sorry I missed it. Clan McDickens will make sure to attend next year.

I was in CO with my college buddies for our annual "retreat". Some hiking, fly-fishing, high-altitude football, and hot springs for recovery. Good for the soul.
