I'll be at Bryan's house tonight at 5:45pm; down to the field around 6:15pm until 7:30pm or so if anyone wants to get some practice in.

Saturday at Bryan's house 10:30am; down to the field 11:15-1:15? Please post if you're planning to come to either practice or another day/time.

Thanks!

Threw by myself tonight; I reckon most of you are throwing tomorrow. I did sheaf, stone and both weights.

Sheaf was inconsistent, but I had some decent throws around 27'-28'. About 15 throws.

I think (hope) I had a breakthru in stone. After 3 throws around 36'-38', I really concentrated on staying back and hit 8 in a row over 40 feet. (40' was my goal.) Most were 40 and inches; one was 41'+ and one was 42' 2 1/2". I hope I can remember how I did it-- I'm not sure I have ever hit more than 2 in a row over 40' before. Took 11-12 throws after 3 braemar tosses to warm up.

I was hoping for 40' in the HWFD too, and came up a little short-- mostly in the 37'-38' range, with a couple around 36' and a couple around 39'. 40' wasn't happening. Maybe next time. Took 11-12 throws.

Similar deal with the LWFD; hoping for 60' and all over 56-58 with one at 55 and a couple around 59'. (Disclaimer: I used the 20" Polanik.) Last throw I adjusted my position and focused on technique-- 61'. Another 11-12 throws.

Let us know how you guys throw tomorrow! Field was still soft and a little muddy.

Working to clear things for Sat as well (wife heading to work for the day...throwing > than the honey-do list (at least for this weekend...)). Count me in.

Also, is it all right if I bring a newb Sat? I'm trying to school him a bit, but I find I'm ill-equipped to *educate* in heavy athletics. Uber-basics, yes; finer points, not so much.

Noobs always welcome. I'll be there and coach McClain said he'd be throwing too. Come on out and get your throw on, VMC.

10:30ish at McClains House O' Pain. Bring sunscreen, and you can hit the 7-11 for water and chow or bring along. We should be able to get most if not all events in. 8-)

Just 2 at practice today, Jeff and me, with Bryan doing some sheaf coaching. We tossed sheaf (12-15), then went to the field for some stone (9-10), LWFD (7-8), hammer (7-8) and caber. (3-4).

I'll probably be out again of Wednesday if anyone wants to throw who's not doing Tue/Thur.

Bryan, Jeff and I was the VMC today. We hit sheaf, wob, stone, lwfd and hammer. Some pretty good throwing all around, and perfect throwing weather.

I tried some wob tosses "side saddle" style and my right trap is cooked. Hoping to learn to spin this year.

lol, gotta admit that is one event i am consistent in. I think mostly because you don't have to do any spinning lol

I missed today because I had to go in for an endoscopy, so I'm planning to practice tomorrow. 5:45pm at Bryan's for sheaf and wob, then down to the field around 6:30pm, done around 7:30pm. Anyone else able to make it?

hmmmm, I juuuust might be able to make it. I've got to finish an assignment after class, and if I can make it there after that, then I'll be there.

I was the sole VMC'er yesterday. I got a late start and just did sheaf and wob. I might have had a minor breakthru in sheaf; more went up that off to the side. Wob was off for some reason; got to get it back on track pronto.

Weather is looking cool this weekend, and it might be a little damp on Saturday morning. Chance of precip 20%. Only one week until Southern MD!

So... 10:30 at Bryan's house for an hour or so of sheaf and wob, then down to the field for stone, weights, hammer and caber? Wrap up around 1:30-2pm? Pls post if you're planning to make it. Maybe a little mini-comp-- 3 throws/event-- just as a practice for the real thing next week?

Headed to NC to throw at Loch Norman this weekend, so I'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow. Will have to catch the new whippy WOB set-up during the week next week.

Excellent practice on Saturday. Bryan, MikeD, Jeff Storey and myself. We tossed some sheaf at the tree of woe, tossed some bombs over the new whippy wob bar, then went down to the field for stone, hwfd, lwfd and caber. Everyone seemed to be throwing pretty well in the last major tune-up before S MD.

I'm planning on throwing on Wednesday if the weather looks good. Maybe a little sheaf, a couple wob and I'd like to get in some hammer work. Anybody else?

See you all down in S MD on Saturday-- looking forward as always to taking the field with each of you. Going to be a major battle for a podium spot in the master's class! Really a shame Gerard couldn't make it; it would have been great to meet him. Best of luck to him and his family.

And maybe rain, as if things weren't enough of a challenge already! Everybody bring your A game, your poncho and your long cleats! :D

No practice today, and tomorrow's looking wet too.

On the bright side, the weather for S MD on Saturday is looking better.

These is only one bad thing about having a great practice before a competition. Being sorely dissappointed with your results during the competition. oh well - more work. Hopefully this summer is more forgivingthan last year.
