Dynamic Warm Up

Postby miked on Sun Feb 13, 2011 11:05 pm

It always surprises me how many people in the highland games don’t properly warm up before lifting or throwing.

I always do a dynamic warm up before doing anything. It works range of motion, flexibility, agility, and conditioning.

Rather than try to describe the exercises I do I thought I would just video my warm up from today. I really believe that if you add this stuff to your workouts, not only will you prevent injury, but ultimately be a better thrower. I think the footwork stuff really translates to the open stone and weights.

It’s also a good time to listen to music that will help you get up for/focus on your workout. You can hear some of the stuff I listen to. I’ll buy a beer for the first person to name the title/artist of each song.

Nice. I thought I was the only one that used this warm-up technique.

Brian, you are correct sir. Beer's on me at Southern Maryland.

Beau, I'm a little surprised you didn't name the songs and artists. I figured that was in your wheelhouse.

Whats even funnier about this video: notice it has been cut and edited, so it unknown how long this warmup went on for.
