I understand that I need a fork for sheaf tossing (yes, just getting into this). Any recommendations on where and what to get? Thank you in advance.

I got mine from True Value. You will need a three tine. And you will want to strip any paint off the tines. I had to narrow mine and straighten them out. But those are due to personal preference.

hit some yard sales and antiques places too. The forged antique ones are money!

Picked up a 5 tine from a local hardware store and had a buddy cut off 2 of the middle tines. Narrow and relatively straight, I now just have to sand it down.

When narrowing your tines, about how much do you want to take off? Want 'em the width of a pencil or is that to thin?

Depending on you skill set, I'd say getting them smooth is the key. Once you start to take away too much material, you may weaken the tine causing it to break. Patrick McNamee would probably have the best idea on the specifics of that.

Sounds like what you got was a manure fork. The better fork to get is the Hey Fork.

For $40.
But I've seen several types used.
