Gym Base Training for Throwers

Hi Im new to forum and fairly new to highland games heavy events, though i have been involved in gyms and training for 35 years

I wondered what specific gym based exercises people do to help in the heavy events Particularly in the off season

Look at Training Lab by Matt Vincent and Behemoth by Dan McKim.
Both are world champs and have written training guides.

Here are a few: Squats, deads, overhead press, hang cleans, good mornings, Oly lifts, rows, plate twists. You can supplement those with bench, curls, leg press and other stuff, and throw in some crunches or other ab work.

Once you begin throwing and start to get an idea of where your weaknesses are (takes a couple of months), focus on the training that will help in those areas.
