Dunedin Video

Postby FrankH on Sat Apr 11, 2009 9:24 pm

This is a video that Lee took of my throws at Dunedin. Technique is very rusty; usually reliable stone and WOB were not so reliable, and the video shows why.

There are a couple walk-on appearances by some MASA throwers, and the video gives some flavor of the Games for anyone who might be thinking about giving Dunedin a try next year. 8-)

Work to do on technique...

Cheers.

Frank you are my hero

stone advice for what it's worth. Go to your video and pause it at 1:41. pull up another window, go side by side with this videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfeD7kDOMWo&feature=related and pause it at :41. you will see what I was telling you about staying back on the right with the shoulders back. Remember from the ground up, let the legs be more involved, and be patient (like I have room to talk) before your big punch at the end.

Hope this helps brother.
I will be the new, improved and almost as good-looking Mike Wills.

Thanks, BJ. Yeah, I was disappointed in how bad my technique looked. Definitely need to stay back longer; I'm popping up and starting the push way too early.

The 22# hammer we threw had a handle about 50". I know cause it stopped just about my upper sternum...same as the one I bought from you Malcolm.

As for the 28# wfd it didn't seem any longer than the old celt 28# that I have here at home and being my height (5'4") a wfd handle being longer than it should be would be very noticeable to me since it would cause me issues on the back swings.

Loved how the cylindrical weights swung and flew :D
