Ya missed it
It started with in Australia. A bunch of cities and the public turned out the lights for an hour to raise global awareness. Power consumption dropped 10% in that one hour. This year it went global and a bunch of US cities did it as well.
I read a book by oil lamp and missed COPS
I'm not much of an activist though. I just liked the peace and quiet for an hour. That and I liked feeling like I was sticking it to the electric company for a short while. If I had my way I would be off the grid all of the time. Zoning won't let me put up a windmill, they put in public water and sewer so now I can't use my well for drinking water, etc....
They make it real hard to not stuff the man's pockets....
