OK here is another one for you. The scene is Frank and Lee's wedding. Colin is in the cake line and when he gets to Frank, Frank asks him if he wants a piece of cake with ice cream.
Colin: Just cake thanks.
Frank: Here ya go
Colin: Frank - in 1933 Bennito Mussolini founded the Fascist Party. His dream was of another Roman Empire.....
Frank: uh .....
Colin: Sadly it was not to be.
Frank: ok, I -
Colin: His invasion of Albania and Ethiopia were disasters for his army proving it's weaknesses. (the exchange goes on for about 5 minutes.)
Frank: Wow Colin you really know your ....... (Colin wanders off having said what he needed to say, nay - what he HAD to say at that moment)

Thank you Frank for relating that story.
Trish: Colin go get your bike and put it away!

Colin: Okay but someone is going to swoop down, stop, take a picture and sell it on the internet.

I have updated the signature block so here is the old one.

Colin: This is a Japanese Weeping Cherry Tree?
Teacher: Yes Colin
Colin: It is really old too.
Teacher: Yes Colin
Colin: They must have given it to us before they bombed Pearl Harbor.
Trish: Colin go get your bike and put it away!

My contribution to the things kids say...

Caitriona: Mom, I just swallowed my toothpaste.
Mom: That's ok, it was an accident.
Caitriona: But you said not to swallow it because it has fluoride in it.
Mom: It's ok, you'll live.
Caitriona: If I didn't live I'd be dead?
Mom: Yes honey, but you don't have to worry about that for a while.
Caitriona: Yeah.... dead or old.

So, in the mind of a child being old is no different than being dead..... great

Alrighty - things kids say......

Kate - They baby chicks came today! They are so cute.
Me - I suppose.
Kate - Are these the eating ones or the egg ones?
Me - Eating.
Kate - They are so tiny. Can we eat them now?
Me - They're only a day old, we have to wait until grow up.
Kate - But we could make them into chicken nuggets now.
Me - Ahhhhhhh

#2 - just last week.

Kate (looking at her dinner plate) - who is this?
Me - Ahhh, I think it was Stella. Or Duck. Probably Stella.
Kate - I don't want to eat Stella. She was really nice.
Me - Ummm, well she tastes really good. You should try it.
Kate - Mmmmmm, this is good. Stella's deeeelicious!
I'm not mean, you're just a sissy.

Hard to figure why you're such a cranky judge when you have all that comedy going on at home-- pretty funny!

You guys ought to keep this stuff written down-- I know my kids used to come up with funny stuff from time to time, but dang if I can remember any of it now. Or where I'm parked, for that matter.

hmmmmm drop the loveably and we are in agreement. then again gruff and cranky are the same thing except there is a dividing line of age separating them. Up until 45 you are gruff - after 45 you are cranky. young men are gruff (as are goats) but old men are cranky. Frank now - Frank is cranky.

Crotchety involves old age and the ability to where your pants at your armpits.

I could have gone all day without that mind picture! No good Scot (not even ancient ones) would forget where to wear their kilt! They might forget the kilt altogether but they would never wear it up to their armpits. ;)

Once upon a time, a teeny little boy was dragged to a violin recital with his 3 musical siblings. the music teacher bent down to the boy and said in her particularly condesending tone, "and what are you going to play?"
The wee lad thought a second.
"Golf!"

That is not nearly enough fun. I like to name them after people who annoy me off. Much more satisfying.

My Dearest Baby Daughter,
Try hard to remember your above quote the next time I get one of those "Hey Daddy, I have a question" phone calls in the middle of the freekin night. :o Remember to that i do Scottish games cause eight of the ten voices in my head tell me to go out and, whatever! Being around Scottish games friends helps keep me calm and sane, when Alex is not on duty... Stop and think about that idea foir a while little girl. Very Scarey... BTW when you grow up and have kids of your own, you will find out that you are almost never safe from those who love you most, cause they give a damn! Now get your tired ass out of bed and get to work! It is Saturday morning and i have been at work since 0430 hours.

Love, McGruff (aka: cranky) (aka: bigfoote) DADDY!
